Big Church Fundraising Garage-Oct. 06-07, 2000 7:30 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. daily at 13722 South 287th. East Avenue. The Young Adult Ministry at the First Assembly of God Church will holding the sale. Participating young adults ages 18-25 will also be selling home baked goods. Proceeds from the sale will be split between Missions and group's upcoming mission trip to Boston, Mass. Lighthouse Tabernacle Homecoming Celebration-Oct. 06-09, 2000 The church is located at 204 S. Bixby Street. Bro. Grant Newton, who founded the church in August 1964 will preach at each services. Friday 7:30 P.M., Saturday 7:30 P.M., Sunday 10:00 A.M. & 2:00 P.M. Dinner will be served between Sunday services. Church officials cordially invite the public to attend.

The Disabled American Veterans Wagoner County Chapter #88 Annual Pie Supper & Auction-Oct. 05, 2000 7:00 P.M. at the DAV headquarters, 210 S. Broadway in Coweta. The public is cordially invited to attend.

God of Prophecy Annual Fall Fish Fry-Sept. 29, 2000 5:00 P.M. to 7:15 P.M. Crappie, catfish, hushpuppies, cornbread, slaw, baked beans, dessert and beverage will be served. Suggested donations of $5.50 for adults and $3.50 for children age 6-12. Children under six eat free. All proceeds will pay for the cost of the resealing and repairing of both church parking lots.

Coweta High School Football Game Fifth Quarter Celebration- . Sept. 29, 2000 Until 11:30 P.M. at Frontline Youth Center at the First Assembly of God Church in Coweta. (Coweta/Booker T. Washington football game) Youth ages 12-19 are invited, and admission is $4.00 per person. Planned activities are giant inflatable games with obstacle challenge with velcro wall and joust. A live music Christian band and Pizza, tacos and pop will be served.

Wagoner County Health Dept. "Take Charge" For Area Women-Sept. 29, 2000 at Wagoner County Health Department in Coweta. The clinic will offer free mammograms, pap smears and breast exams for women ages 50-64 who are limited income, uninsured or underinsured. Coweta Fall Festival- Sept. 7, 8, 9 & 10 2000 at Wagoner County Fairgrounds in Coweta.  “Exploding into the Millennium". The Chair - person  for this years festival will be Shirley Johnson, Co-chair will be Jill Van Tuyl and Kelly Theodore. There will be an armband night Thursday and one on Sunday afternoon. "Give A Pint" American Red Cross Blood Drive-August  19, 2000. 10:00 A.M. 2:00 P.M. at American Legion Post located 600 South Broadway Coweta. All eligible donors to participate. Applications Miss Fall Festival Pageant-August 19, 2000 is the deadline for girls ages 14-18 to enter the pageant, planned September 07, 2000. The winner of this year's pageant will receive a $1,000 scholarship, a $500 savings bond and other prizes. Cheerleaders Car Wash Benefit-August 12, 2000 at Martins Convenience Store( Highway 51 and Ben Lumpkin Road). The money raise is to help Coweta School Cheerleaders trip to London. Cost is a donation, with all proceeds helping the girls finance their trip.

Coweta Chamber Host A legislative Breakfast-August  11, 2000 8:00 A.M. at Coweta Public Library. Area legislators have been invited to attend and meet with voters to discuss issues of importance in this area. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Free Speech/ language Developmental & Hearing Screening-August 11, 2000 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Coweta Public Library. Areas of focus will be motor skills, cognitive skills, language skills, adaptive skills and personal social skills. The screening will take 30 minutes. Haskell 4-H & FFA Livestock Booster Club's 13th. Annual Rodeo-July 28-29, 2000 8:00 P.M. each night at the Haskell All-Sports Arena in Haskell Oklahoma. Events scheduled are peewee barrels (age 8-Under) , junior barrels (age 15-Under), saddle bronc riding, team roping, steer wrestling, bull riding and bareback bronc riding. Shahan Free Will Baptist Church Hosts Kidz Krusade-July 29, 2000 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.  at the Church in Coweta. The Kidz Krusade is for children ages 4-12. First United Methodist Church Vacation Bible School-July 23-27, 2000 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. This year's them is "Rock 'N Soul". Children ages three through sixth grade are invited to attend. Wagoner County Retired Educators & Support Personnel Picnic-June 12, 2000 5:00P.M. at Afton Landing. Personnel will meet for the final time this school year. Safety Seminar-May 16, 2000 6:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M. at Coweta Public Library. The Coweta Police Department & Coweta Public Library will hold the seminar. The seminar will focus on self-defense awareness and home security. The event is free, and all area residents are urged to participate. Spring Fling Fundraiser to benefit Porter Consolidated School- May 13, 2000 5:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. at Porter Schools cafeteria. The fundraiser is help buy a intercom system for the school. The cost for the system is 20,000. Event  planned are bean and chili supper in the school cafeteria, silent auction on specialty baskets put together by students, organizations and individuals at 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.  Live musical groups will provide internment from 6:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. Among the entertainer will be Matt Robinson, Glory Bound, Porter Vibrations and Raymond Henry and his group. A pie auction is planned from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. Everyone is invited to come. The Easter Bunny Is Coming To Town-April 22, 2000 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Coweta Wal-Mart on Hwy. 51. The Coweta Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary will take photographs of children with the Easter bunny. Picture cost is $3.00 per child. All proceeds will benefit the Auxiliary as members provide food and beverages for firefighters on such lengthy calls as grass fires and search and rescue operations.

Fifth Grade Cheerleaders Squad Signup-April 20, 2000 7:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church fellowship hall for next year's fifth grade cheerleading squad. All fourth grade girls who are interested in cheering next year need to attend. One parent or guardian per girl must attend to fill out paperwork and pay a $35.00 deposit. Notice Of Home Investment Partnerships Public Hearing-April 3, 2000 7:00 P.M. at Coweta Public Library meeting room, 100 E. Sycamore, Coweta, Oklahoma, to receive recommendations on housing need for the cities and counties within the Metropolitan Tulsa HOME consortium area. The Consortium anticipates receiving approximately $1,030,000 in FY 2000 HOME funds from the Department of House and Urban Development . Recommendations received will be considered by INCOG  and the Consortium Policy Committee in developing a Consolidated Plan to be submitted to HUD. Citizens are requested to participate in the Hearing and express their views on hosing needs in, Broken Arrow, Bixby, Coweta, Jenks, Glenpool, and the unincorporated areas of Tulsa and Wagoner Counties. Comments or proposals, where feasible, will be incorporated into the plan to be submitted to HUD by June 15, 2000. A dinner of wild onions, eggs, ham, salt pork, corn, brown beans, fry bread, dessert and beverage. All proceeds from the dinner will benefit a member of the church with medical expenses. Church Of God Of Prophecy Annual Fish Fry-March 31, 2000  5:00 P.M. to 7:15 P.M. at the Family Life Center, just north of the sanctuary. The Coweta High School Golf Booster Club Fundraiser-March 28, 2000 at The Woods Golf Course in Coweta. The Boys will play a maximum of 45 holes while the girls will play a maximum of 36 holes. Minimum played is 10 cents per hole played, and flat pledges are also accepted. All proceeds from the fundraiser will help feed the teams when they travel and defray cost associated with uniforms shirts and equipment. Davis Chapel Annual Wild Onion Dinner-March 25, 2000 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the church. A meal of wild onions, eggs, ham, salt pork, dessert and beverage will be served. Cost is 5.00 per person with all proceeds going towards the church's on-going completion. Davis Chapel is located three-quarters of a mile south of Coweta on SH-72.

Bluebird Bob Walshaw is coming to Coweta-March 23,2000 3:00 P.M. at Coweta Public Library. The program is for all ages. Bluebird Bob will talk about and answer questions about bluebird. He will be displaying verity of bluebird house. He will show how to position bird houses and how to care for bluebirds. The program is free and open to the public.

Coweta Band Annual Spaghetti Supper- March 21, 2000 5:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. at Intermediate Grade Center. Cost of the meal is $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for children under age 6. From 6:00 P.M. to 6:45 P.M. the CHS Jazz band will perform for dinner patrons. Proceeds from the meal will go into the band's operational funds for the purchase of music and equipment and paying contest entry fees. All is welcome to attend.

Irish Dinner-March 17, 2000 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. at Assembly of God Church in Coweta. The Women's Ministry Department will be host the dinner. Featured items are corned beef and cabbage, chicken and dumplings, boiled new potatoes, salad, beverage & several dessert choices. Cost of the meal is $5.00 for adults and $2.50 for children ages 1 and under. All proceeds will go towards supporting a missionary family serving in the Republic of Georgia and several home mission projects. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the good food and fellowship.

Pie Auction Fundraiser -March 11, 2000 6:00 P.M. at The Thomas Community Church. Home baked items and a  homemade quilt designed by the ladies of the church will also be auctioned off. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward the purchase of chimes for the church steeple. Thomas Community Church is located east of Ben Lumpkin/Coweta Road on 61st. Street.

Census 2000 Exams-Jan. 13, 1999 6:00P.M. & Jan 19, 2000 1:00P.M. at Coweta Library. Enumerators are paid $9.00 dollars per hour and 31 cents per mile mileage. Crew leaders are paid $10.50 per hour and cents per mile. Hours are flexible, based on a 20-30 or 30-40 hours a week. Participants should bring some sort of identification.
