Porter Volunteer Fire Department Pancake Breakfast-December 13, 2008 7:00AM - 10:00AM. The Porter Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its annual pancake breakfast. Pancakes with sausage and milk or Juice for just $3.50 a person.

2008 Coweta Christmas Parade and Christmas Bazaar-December 6, 2008.  Starts with the parade at 12:00 P.M.  in the downtown business district. Coweta Chamber Director Martha Sewell said the bazaar will be held in the fellowship halls at the Church of God of Prophecy and the First United Methodist Church. Both facilities are located one block west of Broadway on Sycamore Street. Vendor spaces are 8-feet by 8-feet in size. Cost is $50 for Chamber members and $100 for non-members. Vendors are required to supply their own tables, extension cords and special lighting. Anyone who is interested in submitting a parade entry or signing up for the bazaar should contact the Chamber office at 486-2513 or by e-mail at cowetachamber@juno.com . Entries may also be faxed to 918279-0829.

Are you willing to be a part of the Great American Smokeout?- November 20, 2008-The Wagoner County Tobacco Use Prevention Coalition is teaming up with the American Cancer Society for the Great American Smokeout in Wagoner County on November 20, 2008.  The Great American Smokeout is the day the American Cancer Society urges all Americans to stop using tobacco for one day and become aware of the many support methods available to help people quit for good. A big part of the success of this effort will be to encourage participation in this event. One avenue we have is to provide employers with payroll stuffers and / or brochures related to the local event. Getting the word out to residents in Wagoner County is our priority. Are you willing to promote this effort? Let us know the number of payroll stuffers and/ or brochures you will need to provide this information to your employees and their families. Southern Gospel music performer Kirk Talley will appear in Coweta-November 2, 2008 at 6 p.m. at the Coweta Assembly of God Church. Talley began his solo career in 1993, and has traveled and sung all across the United States and into Canada. His first number one hit as a soloist came from his project titled "I Speak to You". The song, "Joy on the Other Side of Jordan" was only the beginning for Kirk's list of accomplishments. Coweta Assembly of God Pastor Gary Rogers and member of his congregation invite all area residents to join them for this very special performance in the community.

District 27 Drug Task Force Gun Auction-November 1, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Montana Trading Post, located one half mile north of Highway 51 on Highway 69. Approximately 200 guns will be on the auction block. Moore said there will be a 10 percent buyers fee. For more information, contact Randy Graham at 918-485-0722.

The Church of God of Prophecy 2nd Annual Community Chili Dinner- Friday, Oct. 31, 2008  from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. A "Hallelujah Night" celebration for children will also be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The celebration will include games, food, candy and fun. Remember, all activities are free! The Church of God of Prophecy is located one block west of Broadway on Cypress Street.

Fall Harvest Celebration-Friday, Oct. 31, 2008 Activity will begin with games from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Abundant Rain World Outreach Church, 12425 S. 273rd East Ave. Following will be hayrides and a hotdog roast by the campfire. A talent show is planned to help raise money for missions. Cost is $15 per entry and anyone in the community is invited to participate in the show. The Coweta Chamber of Commerce Luncheon-October 15, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church Family Center, at 12 noon.  This Luncheon will be spotlighting the Republican candidates for our district. The keynote speaker will be Congressman John Sullivan.  We will also have representatives from Jim Inhoff's official on hand, and many more.  Jill Van Tuyl will be catering the event with her delicious cuisine.  The cost of the luncheon will be $11.00 per person and will need to be paid at the door. We must have an accurate head count the 10th of October, so Please RSVP!!! Everyone is invited to attend and meet the candidates and there will be material available to use for campaign purposes. 2008-09 Slam Dunk Club Booster Cub Basketball-Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008  from 10 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the Coweta track field, 146th Street and 305th East Ave. Boys and girls in the 3rd through 6th grades are invited and encouraged to participate. Fields of Faith-October 8, 2008 7:00 P.M. at Tiger Field. Praise and worship music (band comprised of Coweta students), a guest speaker, scripture reading and student testimonies. "One Day. One Message. One Stand." is the theme of this year's activity. Coweta FCA Advisor Darron Hummingbird and participants in the FCA chapters invite all area residents to join them at Tiger Field next Wednesday for this special evening celebration.

Team Relief Fall Sale- Friday and Saturday, October 3, 4  2008. Team Relief will host its fall sale from 7:30 A.M. to 2 P.M. each day at the Team Relief building, 27110 E. 146th Street South in Coweta. There will be treasures galore for garage sale enthusiasts of all ages. Team Relief - a local non-profit, Christian organization - has been reaching out to help others in need. Volunteers are also needed to help set up for the sale. Shifts are available on Tuesday, Sept. 30 and Thursday, Oct. 2. To help in this capacity, call LaDonna Sanders at 918-724-4453. Volunteers are also needed and welcome on sale days.

2008-2009 Homecoming Community Wide Pep Assembly at Tiger Stadium!!!-September 29th, 2008 6:30pm to 9pm. The leadership class and student council at the Coweta High School will be hosting the 2008- 2009 Homecoming Community Wide Pep Rally at Tiger Stadium September 29th starting at 6:30pm. Immediately following an exciting family friendly homecoming celebration will proceed until 9pm. The celebration will include: inflatable, music, car and motorcycle show, carnival games, and a Nintendo Wii will be given away at the end of the night. (more info here)

Seventh Annual Patriotic Festival-June 28, 2008  Saturday, at 6 p.m. in the parking area west of Tiger Field. The free event will feature a live performance by the Smith Brothers Band. Family activities will be offered throughout the evening. Sarfari Joe's will bring back its popular petting zoo, pony rides will be offered and a jupiter jump will be on site. Free kites and bubbles will be handed out to the kids. Coweta Fire Department will bring its water cannon Those who plan to play in the water should wear shoes to prevent injury to their feet. Several food and craft vendors are expected to participate as well. The celebration will culminate after dusk with a spectacular fireworks display provided by Imperial Fireworks.
Area residents are invited to bring their lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets, join their neighbors and come out to enjoy the evening concert and fireworks. A free trolley service will be offered from the high school and junior high parking lots for patron convenience.

The Koweta Creek Community Wiener Roast & Games-June 27, 2008 5:30 P.M.  at the Koweta Indian Community, 30925 E. 141st Street.  All Native American parents and grandparents are encouraged to bring their children and grandchildren to share in this event.

Vacation Bible School Church of God of Prophecy Invites Children to Power Lab-June 2, 2008 to June 06, 2008 6:30pm until 8:30. at Meet at Church of God of Prophecy. Summer Driver's Education Class-May 26-30, 2008  from 8 A.M. to 2 P.M. daily in the high school media center. Attendance is mandatory for any student enrolled in the course and no exceptions will be made. Drive times will be scheduled during the first week of the course and will be conducted between May 26 and June 27. Each student will experience six hours of total drive time. To enroll, students must be at least 15 years of age. Enrollment is conducted through the CHS counseling office Monday through Friday from 8:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Cost for the class if $205 and checks should be made payable to the school. Thirty enrollment slots are available and students will be enrolled on a first come, first serve basis. Armed Forces Day Celebrations-May 17, 2008  The Blue Star Mothers are planning several Armed Forces Day celebrations  that include forming a human yellow ribbon in the Oak Grove Center. COWETA YOUTH CHEER- Extending signups to 5-12-08. Girls entering 1st thru 6th grade for the 2008-09 year are welcome to signup for Cheerleading at: www.youthfootball.com . Registration fee is $85.00. There is a fundraising packet available to offset the costs of uniforms, camp clothes, etc., all monies/registration must be turned in on 5-13-08 at the Jr. High Gym at 5:30 - 8:30pm. Food boxes are $30 each and contain fresh meats, fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables and staple items. All food is fresh, top quality, name brand products. Free Dump Day  in Coweta-May 10, 2008 The disposal location is the Wagoner County Fairgrounds, 30058 E. 147th Street across from Coweta Junior High. Loose, bagged and over sized  trash only will be accepted from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. Free disposal service will be available for persons residing in the city limits. They will not be accepted include rock, dirt, brush, refrigerated appliances with freon or other hazardous materials.

Couple's Conference 2008-April 26, 2008 :8:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. at Arrow Heights Baptist Church in Broken Arrow. Coweta Public School Annual Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten Screening And Enrollment- April 8-9, 2008 9 A.M. each day at Southside Elementary, 15297 S. Highway 72.  Children must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2008 to be eligible for pre-kindergarten. Youngsters must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2008 to be eligible for kindergarten. Students currently attending Coweta Public Schools are not required to attend next week's screening and enrollment. Children will be screened and enrolled by appointment only beginning at 9 A.M. each day. To schedule an appointment, call the Education Service Center at 918-486-6506.

Angel Food Boxes Orders-April 7, 2008 11 A.M. to 2 P.M. at the Coweta Assembly of God Church, 29707 E. Highway 51. Boxes are $30 each and there is no limit to the number of boxes one can purchase. Each box contains fresh meat, fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables and staple items. Nothing is "day old" or "outdated". Food is provided through Larry Hutton Ministries. April specials are also offered at costs of $18 to $20 each. Payment is required when placing an order. Cash, money orders or food stamp cards only will be accepted. Donkey Basketball-April 7, 2008 7:00 P.M. at Coweta High School. Game will feature Coweta police and firefighters, school principals, administrators and seniors. Admission to the game is $5 in advance and tickets may be purchased at Scott's 66, BancFirst Coweta and Coweta High School. Admission at the door is $7.

Parent Teacher Student Organization Dodge Ball Tournament-April 4-5, 2008 at Coweta High School. Games will be played Friday and Saturday, April 4-5 in the high school gymnasium. Teams are now forming for the competition. Cost to participate is $5 per person or $40 for an 8-person team.  Dads Against Daughters Dating team will square off with their daughters' boyfriends in an exhibition game. Admission to games is $3 for adults and $1 for students. Call the school for game times. Saturday's finals are set for 6 p.m. 

Coweta Masonic Lodge Fish Fry & Silent Auction-April 5, 2008 6:00 P.M.  at  the Coweta High School. commons area. Cost is $6 per person and all proceeds go to Project Graduation.
